Breastplasty

Mammoplasty is an aesthetic surgical procedure aimed at improving appearance and may also be recommended for medical reasons. This procedure is highly popular and occupies one of the main spots among plastic surgeries.

In the field of plastic surgery, there are several types of surgeries aimed at changing the shape and size of breasts. Some of the major types of plastic surgery on breasts include:

  1. Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty): A procedure that uses implants or your own fat to increase breast volume and improve their shape.
  2. Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty): Surgical reduction of the size of breasts by removing excess tissue, fat, and skin. This surgery can be performed to improve physical comfort and aesthetics.
  3. Breast lift (Machtopexy): Surgery designed to remove excess skin and lift the breasts to restore their natural shape and support.
  4. Breast Reconstruction: The surgical process of restoring the shape and appearance of breasts after they have been removed, such as by mastectomy in the treatment of breast cancer.
  5. Breast asymmetry correction: Surgery to equalise the size and shape of breasts if they are different as a result of genetic features or other factors.
  6. Breast Lipofilling: A procedure in which the patient’s own fat is used to improve the volume and shape of breasts.

The surgeon determines and recommends the best method of surgery for each patient. The surgeon takes into account the patient’s wishes regarding the desired result, and his/her recommendations are based on medical conditions and the results of preliminary examinations.

– Insufficient breast volume: When the patient is not satisfied with the size of their breasts;

– After pregnancy and breastfeeding: During pregnancy, the breasts increase in size, but after the discontinuation of breastfeeding, they may lose their firmness and shape. Recovery may include not only a lift, but also a breast augmentation;

– After dramatic weight loss. With significant weight loss, the breasts may lose their former lushness;

– Asymmetry. Occurs due to trauma, hormonal changes or genetic features;

– Age-related changes. As women age, the amount of collagen and elastin responsible for skin elasticity decreases. This can lead to sagging breasts and stretch marks on the surface of the breasts.

– Aesthetic appearance of the breasts characterised by size, sagging;

– Difficulties with comfort when wearing undergarments and clothing;

– Complaints of discomfort in the back, shoulders and neck;

– Excessive sweating and dirt/crust accumulation under the breasts is observed;

– Skeletal deformity is occurring.

  1. A Counterindications may be the presence of serious chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus or immune system problems.
  2. Mammaplasty is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as well as for 6 months after its completion.
  3. The presence of infections, severe scarring, recent burns or other skin problems in the breast area may be a contraindication.
  4. In some cases, age restrictions may be considered, especially if there is a risk to the patient’s overall health.
  5. Certain diseases or conditions that may slow down the tissue healing process also may be a contraindication.

Duration of the operation:
2 – 3 hours
Anaesthesia:
General anaesthesia
Expected result:
After 6 to 12 months
Return to work:
Returning to work is possible on the 5th day after surgery, but in practice many women continue to experience significant discomfort during this period. It is therefore recommended to consider a break from work for 7-14 days, based on the individual speed of recovery
Sports activities:
Physical activity is strongly discouraged for the first 4 days after surgery. For approximately 2-3 weeks after surgery, it is recommended that you limit yourself to only walking. Returning to exercise is allowed after about 2 months, provided that exercises that focus on the upper torso, such as push-ups, are avoided.
Hygiene:
For the first few days, it is important to avoid getting water on the surgical sites. After that, showering is only allowed with the doctor’s consent. The water should be warm and the spray should be soft and diffused.
Sleeping positions:
During the first month it is recommended to sleep exclusively on your back. Thereafter, you can gradually begin to take the position on your side. Sleeping on the belly is allowed no earlier than two months after the procedure
